A meaningful recycling material application depends, among other things, on the achievable processing and usage properties as well as the legal boundary conditions present. Due to the different origins of the waste and various industrial technologies and processes for material preparation, recyclates are subject to fluctuations, i.e., the material properties are not constant and can only be predicted with difficulty. To investigate the properties of recycled plastics in granulate form (e.g., proportion of foreign matter), various methods exist, but no established standard specifications by which processing and usage properties can be inferred.
The IKV conference offers you, in addition to an overview of technological and process engineering possibilities for the material preparation and processing of recycled plastics (e.g., washing, extrusion), practical methods for characterizing recyclate properties (e.g., as part of incoming goods inspection). Furthermore, the legal framework conditions for the use of recyclates in the packaging industry are discussed, and how digitalization can be meaningfully used for a plastic circular economy. Feel free to share your challenges and discuss your needs in the industry with us.
