This webinar, organized by IAMHH e.V., will focus on advanced powder materials for metal additive manufacturing, with particular emphasis on Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and Cold Spray technologies.

The first part of the webinar will address the upcycling of powder materials, understood as the transformation of waste powders, production residues, or materials that no longer meet their original specifications into fully functional feedstocks with increased technical and commercial value. We will discuss methods for improving particle size distribution, morphology, flowability, and powder homogeneity, as well as opportunities for reusing processed materials in additive manufacturing. The presentation will demonstrate how appropriate powder treatment, classification, and recovery processes can reduce waste, lower material costs, and improve resource efficiency.

The second part will present unique powder materials developed by Ultra Metal Powders. These include both specialized metal powders with tailored chemical compositions, morphologies, and particle size distributions, as well as powders with modified particle surfaces. The application of micro- and nanoscale surface additives can provide powders with new and unique properties, influencing laser energy absorption, melting behaviour, deposition efficiency, process stability, microstructure development, and the properties of the final components.

During the webinar, we will also unveil two new powder products specifically developed to address key technical limitations in LPBF and Cold Spray processes. We will explain the challenges they solve, the mechanisms behind their improved performance, and their potential impact on process reliability, material utilization, and final component quality.
